The Brainbridge Shield is a scratch foursomes knockout event organised by the Warwickshire Golf Union.  This year Wishaw has enterd 2 teams into the competition.  Scratch Team Captain Pete Aston selected the pairings of Steve Mayor(3) & Richard Langley(5), and Colin Barnes(5) & Steve Gibbs(5).

Steve & Richard have drawn North Warwickshire GC away, with Colin & Steve coming up against Warwick at home, for the first round.

David Sarson wins in Cairo

Wishaw members David Sarson and Oscar Venus made the journey to Cairo to compete in the 2009 Yellow Pages Cairo Junior Open, which took place at Katameya Heights Golf Resort.  Both played well over the 2 day event, but it was David Sarson who secured the victory to become the 2009 Cairo Junior Open Champion.  David returned excellent scores of 74 and 78 on the par 72 championship course, giving a total gross score of just 152, 14 shots clear of runner up Ibrahim Wakid with 166.

David has been working very hard on his game through the winter and is certainly one to look out for in 2009.  His handicap has now come down to 8.3 and we look forward to seeing David come down even further.

Sue Thomas and Karen Aston made a successful start to the Daily Mail Foursomes with a cracking 6 and 5 victory over Walmley Golf Club on Sunday 8th March.  The result was even more impressive as the match was played at Walmley.
