Following a long wait for other matches to be played, Wishaw have finished Runners Up behind Cleobury Mortimer in Division 7, and promoted to Division 6 for next season. As well as Cleobury, Wishaw will be playing Swindon, Oxley Park, North Warks, North Worcs and Branston. Congratulations to the squad for a fantastic achievement and good luck for the 2012 season.
This weekend could turn very ugly as the annual gruesomes competition approaches. The format is very similar to greensomes with both players driving off, then picking one ball to continue with, playing alternate shots until the hole is completed. However, the evil twist in gruesomes is that instead of you picking the best drive to play on with, your opponents will choose the worst for you. Pick your opposing pair wisely as things could turn nasty!!!!
Wishaw Golf Club seems to be becoming common ground with the sought after hole in one! This summer has seen a string of the glorious “1”, with many occurring in individual strokeplay competitions, much to the disgruntlement of the Insurers. Matthew Smith, Jim Dowling, Ian Atkinson, Martin Stokes and Bob Biddle have all achieved a competitive hole in one this season to the fortunate benefit of those in the club house bar at the right time!!!
